Moving to the US for 7-12 months - luggage advice

We are moving to the US for 7-12 months with my family, significant other and 11 & 2 year old as I have a business over there.
We're trying not to go overboard on what we take but suspect it will be 2 suitcases each. However we don't really want to turn up at the airport with that much stuff + chase a 2 year around.
I'm struggling to find a more cost affective way.
Suggestions from people welcome.
Would also appreciate advice on travel insurance. It looks like long term travel insurance is the best option, rather than paying a monthly premium for a policy specific to the US.
Thanks in advance.

Friends have just gone to Canada for 4 months, having done this before they took little luggage. On arrival they went to thrift shops to kit themselves and children out very cheaply. They will give the clothes back when they leave.0

That is the most cost effective way. Just remember that you'll be checking-in your luggage immediately upon arrival at the airport, so will be free then to chase your 2yr old. We're trying not to go overboard on what we take but suspect it will be 2 suitcases each. We recently moved to Switzerland, just took 2 suitcases each and they were off our hands within 20mins of arriving at the airport.0 -
Regarding the insurance aspect, I suspect that you will have to contact a specialist broker for this.
Most, if not all travel policies are limited as for how long each individual stay overseas can be and this is generally up to 30 or in some cases, 60 days.
You will also find that many travel policies will only provide cover for leisure travel and not when you are overseas for business purposes.0
