Help please...

Hello Wise money people,

I need some help. I've looked around for a clear list of what to do but have never found the templates or instructions on what to do or precisely how to go about it and don't want to send some half baked template to a company for them to laugh at.

I had a Barclaycard, Egg ,Goldfish and Monument Credit cards, an Argos store card and a loan from Hitachi Capital for some laser eye surgery. I fell behind and got in to trouble with repayments, CCJ's and what have you but got it all organised and paid them all off bar the monument card. I've been making the minimum payments on it for what feels like forever but never got around to paying the final amount which I believe is tiny. Its now with someone called Capquest believe?... they take about £11 pounds a month which seems like a lot now that I think about it.

All of these accounts I opened at least 7 years ago maybe more than 10 for some of them.

I have no details on any of these accounts other than my name and my address at the time.

Im pretty sure I had PPI on all of them and dont want to pay fees to a company to do it for me. I was going to as Im not adept at these things but once I saw the hidden charge and looked around the internet at all the bad stories I decided to try and do it for myself.

I used the Resolver thing that comes with this website to start a claim for my Additions bank account charges and that was very straight forward.

Is there not a tool like that for PPI claims?

  • You first need to ascertain whether you actually had PPI. No point in trying to "complain" about insurance you may not have had.
So you need to contact all those providers and confirm PPI. Then you need valid mis-selling complaint reasons…then you can proceed to actual complaint…
  • Ok so I've seen the list of addresses around the forums somewhere. Do I simply send them an email and ask in pain English or is there a template that is best to use?

Do I not first need the account numbers?
  • You need to provide them with all information possible for them to find you. If they have destroyed their records (in line with data protection on closed accounts) and you have none yourself it will be a fruitless exercise even if you did have any PPI.

Do realise that no claim company can find/search information you do not provide yourself, so don't be tempted by any such claims they may make in that regard.

You have a very uphill struggle ahead.
  • Ok thanks this is a big help.

I did fear that the accounts being so old along with me having no info would be a problem.

I'll do what I can and see if this gets me anywhere.

I'd like to post my results being good or bad is it best to start a new post when this happens or just necro this one?
