What to do with goods after refund

I bought some boots online and they were not as described. I paid by Paypal (not through eBay).

1 email and four telephone messages requesting refund and return postage were ignored.

I opened a Paypal dispute which they also ignored and I have received my refund from Paypal.

I have also received an automated email from the retailer saying that my order had been updated to a refund but this makes no reference to any return.

So what do I do with the boots? Can I dispose of them, denote them to a charity shop?

Do whatever you like with them.

Last time I received goods not as described (fake) I had lots of fun destroying them. They were worthless and selling them on would have been illegal anyway. Charity shop is also not supposed to sell fake goods if they know about it. They're supposed to destroy as well.

Although I have knowingly bought some fake goods from a charity called HIS before. HIS remove the fake branding and apply their own branding to the goods donated to them by customs.

They aren't fake, and I am concerned with the legal position. Should I give them written notice to arrange for collection after a certain time? I don't want them coming after me in the future for their boots!

    Don't just destroy them.
Ask them what they want to do with them (as of now, they belong to the retailer)

Keep the evidence of what they say. If they don't reply send another mail with a reasonable time to respond or you will dispose of them. If they're half decent (and could be sold for money, albeit less than what you paid) chuck them on eBay or something and keep the money.

Thank you. I'll do what you suggest and perhaps gve them two weeks to arrange for collection/pre-paid return, after which they will be treated as abandoned and will be disposed of.
