Immoral actions by Llyods bank asking 27000 GBP
Comments

llyods suggested they could do "everything on my mother's behalf" transferring the estate for 27000 pounds, representing 2.something % of the estate value.
Lucky my mum still has her marbles and told them to FO. They called back today that they could now do it for the bargain price of 16000 pounds.
Begs the question of how did the subject come up - Was the offer of "help" made without any prior discussion or was Mum asking if Lloyds could provide any assistance ?
If the former, then very distasteful on their part and reprehensible of them to phone up the next day with a lower price. If the latter, then morally questionable for chasing after business and calling the following day with a lower price despite being told "No".Any language construct that forces such insanity in this case should be abandoned without regrets. –

Treasure the moments that you have. Savour them for as long as you can for they will never come back again.0 -
My guess is that the family went into a Lloyds branch to inform them of the death - the branch would have been able to see either large account balances or asked who the executors were.
I would imagine they would have offered to refer them on to their wealth division which again the family would have agreed to.0 -
Can't quite see why such disgust, perhaps you are grieving and unable to comprehend a value attached to a service such as this for some. As others have said they offered a service. In this instance it isn't required and has been dealt with with a decline to their offer.
For some, that would be a massive weight off their mind at a time when they are grieving. Not all families have organised accounts and or know where monies are. My father and mother in law died within a day of being perfectly healthy and the children who were all under 25 used a similar service which proved a great relieve to a family in deep shock and unable to cope with financial dealings associated with them.
As others have said a percentage charge is normal and 2 percent is roughly average.0 -
Banks charge extortionate amounts for this "service" that is far in excess of what is reasonable. Solicitors will usually negotiate fees based on the work actually done.lush_walrus wrote: »Can't quite see why such disgust, perhaps you are grieving and unable to comprehend a value attached to a service such as this for some. The fact that this thread is dated 16 January threw me - thought I'd missed a week.
Never understand why people dredge up old threads without saying so - it's a year old o the month.0 -
Agreed. However in this case the bank's greed is an ongoing problem that people need to be aware of.The fact that this thread is dated 16 January threw me - thought I'd missed a week.
