Huge Electricity and Gas Bills, I don't know why.

Options
I have a three bedroom, 2007 built house, 2 adults and 3 children.

We have huge energy bills, but I don't know why, my family and friends pay nearly half what we do.

Can anyone help me?

Your gas meter measures usage in units, but like all suppliers, we have to do a bit of
maths to turn it into kWh. Here's how it works:
1
GAS UNITS USED X CALORIFIC VALUE (39.2) X VOLUME CORRECTION (1.02264) ÷ 3.6
Subtotal £697.97
VAT @ 5% of £709.97 £35.50
Total charges for this period £733.47

The formatting is not very clear but as I read it, in the period from 12 May to 10 Nov(i.e. 6 months) you have used 3,175kWh electricity and 7,617kWh gas.

I assume that the 'Our Read' means you have read the meter and those are your readings.

Your consumption of electricity is certainly high, but could be explained away by many things. Tumble driers, immersion heater left on, children all using games etc. You need to get a monitor and chase down the culprit(s)

Gas is also high for 6 summer months, but I wouldn't call it huge. Baths not showers, heating on longer than most people etc.

Try reading the meters a bit more frequently and you'll get a much better idea of what you are using and when. Once you are more aware of your consumption you'll be able to identify what you can do to reduce it.

Just waiting for the bill to come is too late, you've already used it and have to pay for it

Blue+ Price Promise is a reasonably good tariff so it's definitely down to usage as explained above.
    :footie:
:p Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S) :p Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money. :p
