Depends what sort of thing you enjoy doing, we went a couple of years ago.
There's Cardiff castle. Also Castle Coch is really nice. It is like a fairy tale Castle.
There's also an open air museum, I think it was called St Fagans. it's free to get in. It really was well worth it if you enjoy history. It's like Ye Olde village with a bakery, tea shop, all different shops and houses.Remember never judge someone that makes a mistake, because in six months time it may be you that makes the next mistake.0 -

I live a short distance from Trecco Bay Porthcawl, I only hope that the weather will be favourable for you as there is not to much to look forward to indoors.
If it is fine then you have the option of walks across the bays where you will find a market, and a fairground, further on and you will come to the newly built marina and the lighthouse wall.
You will then enter Porthcawl town which is small but it passes an hour.
Outside of Trecco, You have Margam Park, Cardiff Castle, Cardiff Bay, Castle Coch Taffs Well, Barry Island (another seaside resort) Mumbles (Swansea), Saint Fagons Welsh Folk Museum( highly Recommended), I would say most of these are within 15 - 20 miles.
There will be leaflets in the booking in office for most of these
Trecco has lovely beaches and terrific surf on Rest Bay which is about a mile walk from campsite.
Hope this helps and I hope you enjoy my part of the world.

Ah thanks guys for the replies. I live in a small town so we are used to making the most of what we have but already seems like there's so much more to do in the area of Trecco bay. Last time I came to Wales was to run the Cardiff half marathon so will look forward to taking in the sights in more of a laid back way0

We've been to trecco bay four times. One of our favourite parks. All of our recommendations for days out are mentioned above.
Whenever we've been they've had a good amount of kids activities on all through the day. Pool gets very crowded in bad weather. The fish and chip shop onsite was fab on our last visit. The beach is at the far end of the park0 -
Thanks :-) great to hear from people who keep going back to it. What are the caravans like? My husband has never been on a caravan holiday before and is expecting the worse!!0

The caravans are STUNNING - well the ones we saw last year were anyway - brand new!0

Not as nice as Joe's in Swansea but Sidoli's ice cream is well known in the area.
If Joes is available though, it's the best!
The children would probably like Wiggleys farm at that age.0 -
I'm also going to trecco bay in April! I have 2 girls aged 6 and 9.
We went about 3 years ago in April and the weather was gorgeous I just hope we are as lucky this year!!ADVISE-"I advise you get help"
