New card

Got a new card today and activated it. Got a letter with pin a few days ago. Went to buy something today with it and entered the wrong pin twice, and didn't want to enter it wrongly the third time :o . I used my card with the other bank to pay instead. Clearly I suddenly forgot my pin when trying to pay.

Two queries:

1. Since I activated the card today, is it instant whereby I can use it now, or do I need to wait 24 hours?

2. I understand after entering the pin incorrectly three times the card gets locked, and will need to go to the cash machine to unlock it . I only entered wrongly twice. Does the number of retries reset the next day?

If I understand correctly the reties reset the next time you use the correct pin.

It resets each time so you will get another three goes next time you use it. As far as I understand the activation is instant and you do not need to wait 24 hours to use the card. My advice would be to change the pin on a cash machine to one you can remember.
