Have just set up an account and am looking for 2 DD's to set up. I would like to donate to cancer research. Any reason why I can't have 2 separate DD's to them - i.e one for £2 and one for £3?
Thanks
Thanks
16 Panel (250W JASolar) 4kWp, facing 170 degrees, 40 degree slope, Solis Inverter. Why not one to CR and one to a savings account of your own with a Tesco internet saver?
You would open the Tesco IS and set up a DD to pull money from your current account.0 -
Thanks but I have given £5 a month to Cancer Research for nearly 20 years since my dad died and would like to continue to do so. It would seem to be less aggro for me to set up 2 new DD's online with Cancer Research than open a Tesco account.16 Panel (250W JASolar) 4kWp, facing 170 degrees, 40 degree slope, Solis Inverter. May have to be DDs to two separate parties? You would need to check the Santander account Ts&Cs.0

If these two DDs are your only DDs, then presumably you have it for savings, and the 123 account costs you £5 a month. Unless you have already maxed all the other interest paying current accounts, and the Regular Savers, you can get a much better deals with other banks.
In answer to the DD question: when I last checked the Santander T&Cs, they didn't say the DDs must be for two different organisations.0 -
Thanks but its the easiest way to achieve what I want to achieve and give a relatively decent return rather than messing around with lots of accounts.
I too have just looked at T&C's and can't see any exclusion in that regard. I guess people do have seperate DD's to the same organisation for valid reasons so an exclusion might be problematic.16 Panel (250W JASolar) 4kWp, facing 170 degrees, 40 degree slope, Solis Inverter. Bare in mind it will cost the charity twice to fetch that £5 with two DDs rather than one.0

Respecting your wish to continue giving regularly to cancer charities, have you considered supporting two different cancer charities, thus having two separate DDs?
Also note that Santander does not require the DDs to pay out monthly, they just have to be active. Your regular DD to CRUK plus an annual DD to another charity would satisfy Santander's conditions wrt DDs.0 -

Good idea, thanks.16 Panel (250W JASolar) 4kWp, facing 170 degrees, 40 degree slope, Solis Inverter. I've got 3 different DDs on my Santander account to O2 for mobile contracts for different members of my family.Rheumatoid wrote: »Thanks but its the easiest way to achieve what I want to achieve and give a relatively decent return rather than messing around with lots of accounts.

In terms of costs to a charity for 2 DD's, I used to think negatively on that, until I learnt there are commercial companies which charge 1% of a DD, so 1p for a £1 DD. If a commercial company charges that and makes a profit, I really wouldn't be concerned that it would be a significant cost for a charity.0
