Icesave savers rescue funds recovered

  • Looks like great news. I have to admit I only know the headline issues here and don't have a full understanding, hope a good article comes out about this resolution.

    Prior to the collapse of these Icelandic banks, their interest rates were topping tables by some margin.

    I like many asked about saving there. After 2 hours of DD and a few questions, I decided against it as risky. My greed didnt stretch that far.

    Savers, councils etc are very very fortunate to get a bail out there. Who invested for the councils and why needs to be questioned as well as why councils are running massive saving surpluses and still charging full Council Tax.

    Its good its happened and hopefully the matter is now closed.

    I agree. I think both would try to claim they have got value for the taxpayer, and Iceland would say they have paid us back.
    So it would be interesting to read an independent account of this, I recall another Icelandic bank defaulting with over £7bn being talked about.
