WLDCore.dll is missing - Windows 10

I get the following message up when clicking on links to bring up an email to submit certain competition entries :-
WLMail.exe - System error
The program can't start because WLDCore.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this program.
I do not get the message when clicking on links to web pages and my Windows Live Mail is not affected.
Googling the problem, it doesn't seem easy to put right for someone who's not that computer literate! The problem is a nuisance to me, but not dire.
I've tried System Restore, which has not helped and don't want to reset Windows 10 as I've had it for a while now.
I've no idea why I'm getting the message, how (if at all) it's detrimental to my p.c., or how to put it right.
Can anyone help please?

The first answer in my google search says...I´ve found it !!!!!
go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Windows Live\Shared and copy wldcore.dll
Paste it to C:\Program Files (x86)\Windows Live\Mail and to the other Live programs ..
You guys at MS should have this fixed....
which doesn't look all that hard to me. Did you find that one? Did you try it?

I'm guessing the links are mailto: ones and there are various hits getting them to be associated with your mail program. I don't use any Windows mail programs so can't check if mine works or not.0 -
Yes I did find it, but it doesn't seem to apply to Windows 10 as the file is impossible to find (I spent a long time searching for it!).
I can't find this problem relating to Windows 10, apart from one recommending a repair of Windows Essentials, which I've tried and it doesn't work.Wins since 2009 = £17,600MANY THANKS TO ALL OPS0 -
From what little I've read on this it seems it may be browser related. Maybe you need to add that info for some help. As I said I don't use WLM so can't really assist much but thought I'd have a quick google in the hopes of seeing some easy fix you'd maybe missed.
The links are going to be mailto: ones for sure and there will be masses of probably misleading information on sorting those out as there are so many variables involved.0 -
Thanks, yes you're right - just tested a link in the Edge (Windows 10) browser and it works fine, whereas it does not in Chrome which is my preferred browser, so this gives me something to work on ....Wins since 2009 = £17,600MANY THANKS TO ALL OPS0
