Investment options

What will you do if you have 60 k on hand? Can't get a mortgage because I am a foreigner and my visa type is not a permanent one yet, so buying a property is probably out. What other options I have?

How long are you looking at before wanting to use the 60k?
Anything less than 5 years and you can't really call it investing - only gambling. Investment is long term and puts capital at risk.

So you're likely to be keeping it as cash - in which case an appropriate bond, or bonds. Or in normal instant access accounts (you can often make a fair bit of interest in the right ones of these - if you don't mind setting them all up).
