Can Mary have 3 cakes, eat them and expect a fourth?

Tough times out there it seems. I had to wipe away a tear when reading this harrowing story.
She may be on a comfortable salary, and the owner of three properties, but the lack of ready cash is a concern for Marie.

“If anything were to happen, I don’t have that three or six months' money to hand that people recommend you have. I’ve got nothing,” she said.

Everything she does put away goes on holidays.

Through hard work she was able to be gifted some money and then used this money to, brick by brick, build these houses she now owns. These poor tenants would be homeless if not for that, living under a bridge eating soup squeezed from seaweed and pebbles. She deserves a medal, more than a cake. Won't someone think of her tenants.

I'm just sad that I have not been able to work as hard to be gifted money so have only been able to afford one house which I never even built myself.
  • I was so angered by the incorrect use of 'principle' rather than 'principal' that I had to stop reading halfway through.
    FACT.

Marie is showing herself to be a good researcher and investor, in various asset classes. She gets a gold star for her endeavours to date!
And the scorn from the MSE envious brigade as a bonus! :D
Don't blame me, I voted Remain.

Is that one of the MSE badger badges?
  • I did love the 'solution' from the BTL 'expert'.

Feeling poor with 3 properties? Buy a fourth!

It's amusing isn't it. If that article was anyone else you'd have been all over the article like a rash due to the 2 holidays per year.

But as it's someone who is a BTL your tune turns full circle!

"Marie" clearly needs more elderly relatives who are extremely fond of her to either pass away or realise they have no need for their overflowing cash funds.

That's the biggest source of revenue she has seen. I think you should be allowed 6 grandparents by law, then people could adopt an extra 2 in times of need :D
