Document sent in an e-mail opens with the toolbar showing

I can't quite understand this. I usually just print these off to post, however I needed to send 2 as the recipient is abroad.
However it doesn't matter which way I try this, from a file or straight from the screen, when i open it before sending to check, the document shows the tool bar.
I could send by pdf but prefer to send the 2 documents so they can be opened.
It's almost as if Im sending a screenshot.
I know there will be a simple explanation but what?

I'm using Pages on a Mac but Word is just the same.
I've tried to look this problem up but none of my queries show up anything.

No idea, but I'm running OpenOffice on Macbook Pro/iMac, and it works with no issue at all.

  • I'm wondering if it's because I'm opening it to check , perhaps I'll send it to a friend to check what is showing when opened.
One theory was because I was sending it straight from the open document but i tried sending it from a closed file and it was just the same.
    Back to the drawing board!

send the e-mail to yourself to check it...
    ......Gettin' There, Wherever There is......

I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple :D
  • When you send it as a document whoever opens it will have to open it with a corresponding/compatible program, which of course will have toolbars.

  • Problem solved!
I sent the Mail with attachment to my daughter who reported that the toolbar was not showing.
As I first posted, I had sent it to myself to check and it was showing.

It was rather alarming but now I know.

    Thanks for all replies.:T
