Height of garden decking

People in my street have built decking all around their small garden....the decking is over 3 /4 feet off the ground in places particularly around a large bouncing frame they have installed. Can anyone inform me if there Are any rules about the height allowed for garden decking ?

Ask your local friendly planning department, lots of places have guidelines for decking, I seem to remember something about 600mm and over requiring a planning application but could be wrong

    from the .gov planning portal:
    Planning Permission

Putting up decking, or other raised platforms, in your garden is permitted development, not needing an application for planning permission, providing:

The decking is no more than 30cm above the ground
together with other extensions, outbuildings etc, the decking or platforms cover no more than 50 per cent of the garden area.
Please note: the permitted development allowances described here apply to houses not flats, maisonettes or other buildings. View guidance on flats and maisonettes here.

    Building Regulations

Building Regulations should be assumed to apply to every deck structure requiring planning permission.

If you are unsure about whether you are required to comply, you may wish to contact your local Building Control body.
  • Sounds too high to be within permitted development rights. Have they got planning?

If there is a serious issue of then overlooking other people's gardens then you either need to speak to them or report it to your local planning department.
