The next bit doesn’t make sense to me completely yet but it is true and is growing more true by the day…
As much as I can’t wait to be debt free, I am also beginning to dread the thought of it too. There said it.
I think it is because there are no more excuses left. I can’t fall back on it. So, I can’t say I can’t come because I can’t afford it, or I can’t do repairs because I can’t afford it, or I can’t move home as I can’t afford it. I can’t say I can’t be more creative because I have to work full time.
The only way I can describe it is it is like losing weight and realising the world is the same. You don’t look like a supermodel and your life is the same. Everything is the same except you have shrunk.
Of course I will be pleased too. Very pleased, and yet...
End of ungrateful ramblings.
Have a good day all.
Where I am the sun is out a little…:)
It's fear of the unknown and we all suffer from it DIA. Our problems are familiar and so we feel comfortable with them. But change is often good for us.
I found these books by Susan Jeffers really useful 'Feel the Fear and do it Anyway' and 'Embracing Uncertainty'. Especially the bit where she said "Whatever happens you can handle it". I find it very empowering when I say that to myself.

I can't wait to hear what lovely meals you'll be preparing in your new saucepan! I invested (invest is a strong word...) in a great tall pot a few months ago and it's fantastic for things like soup and to boil a ham joint (the reason that I bought it) but it doesn't get used often enough. I now resolve to make the most of my £15 outlay and use this way more often!
I try VERY hard to stay away from my local Swedish store - I can go in there for a browse and come out having spent £50 on absolutely nothing. I either need to go in there with a plan or just not go in there at all.
Did you make it to the gym and steam? I made it out to yoga yesterday despite the fact I could barely see the road for snow (snow has been VERY heavy up my way for the last week) but my car is excellent in the snow so I just braved it. It was worth it - stretching and relaxation really do me the world of good!CC1: £4481.14/ £5031.14 (12% paid off, £600) | CC2:£3307/ £3807 (14.4% paid off, £550) | Loan: £10,528.20/ £15,792.30((33% paid off, £5,264))

It’s so annoying having to take things back , but better to have something that is right , rather than it be sat in a kitchen cupboard for the next while.

I have a branded cast iron casserole dish that my mother bought for me 20 years ago, its still going strong. I think on a pence per use basis it was well worth the original investment. My mortgage free diary: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6498069/whoops-here-comes-the-cheese

I know I can handle whatever happens too. I think INOD nailed it, so when the reasons for success or failure are stripped away be that weight or debt or whatever then my success or failure is down to me and the content of my character. We shall see how I do
I'm glad I know the meaning of your name now. It is a great book and you're right, it is down to you but you can handle it.

Oh wow on the payment , nearly there DIA . You have had a fantastic day with all the things you have done.
When my friend wanted a builder , she walked the streets near her looking out for people having building work done and watched the progress etc. After it was completed she knocked on the doors of the houses to see if they recommended the builder. This is how she found hers , a slightly unconventional way but it worked for her. If you lived in the area i could definitely recommend one to you .This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
