Depends on the structure of your portfolio. What investment model are you following?I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). I am currently invested in 5 sub funds with my ISA Investor; International Growth Shareclass F, Special Situations F, UK Growth Fund F, UK FTSE All Share F and Uk FTSE 100 B
I am just aiming to capitalize on the relatively low FTSE value at the moment as it regularly gets up towards 6500 and was even at 7000 not too long ago. Without being an expert it feels like there could be a pretty simple 10-15% profit for the layman if i invest at the right time (which begs the question how low will the FTSE go during this slump).
Following the FTSE feels like quite a safe & easy option as historically it always seems to recover and break new ground.
I don't mind waiting mid to long term for the return but obviously the sooner the better so i can invest elsewhere.0 -

So, lots of overlap and limited diversification and what appears to be no structure or model.Without being an expert it feels like there could be a pretty simple 10-15% profit for the layman if i invest at the right time (which begs the question how low will the FTSE go during this slump).
What if it does a Japan and never comes back up?Following the FTSE feels like quite a safe & easy option as historically it always seems to recover and break new ground.
It is over 15 years since it broke new ground. The UK stockmarket (large cap) tends to be a very poor investment historically.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA).
