15 or 16 days travel insurance?

Hi and apologies if this has been asked before.

I'm normally fly home from the USA on an overnight flight directly to the UK. but, this year I'm flying via Amsterdam as flights were a lot cheaper.

I usually purchase insurance for the number of nights I'm in America which this year will be 15 nights, but as I have a connecting flight the next morning in Amsterdam do I need to increase my insurance to 16 nights to cover this?
Thanks. J x

Is there that much of a difference in price to worry about the additional day?

    Hi Ballard,
I'm not worried about the price at all, it's just that all the sites ask how long in your holiday is, which before has always been the number of nights in the country for me including the overnight flight back to the UK arriving next morning.

Only difference is this time I have a connecting flight the next morning.

I buy annual cover as I try to get away twice per year. This also ensures (in theory at least) that I'm covered from the point that I buy my flights if I can't travel for one reason or another.

I've got annual worldwide cover including 30+ days in a single trip for about £50.

I'd include the additional day just to be sure. They won't refuse to pay if they consider the trip 15 days but vice versa they might.

I have been delayed 2 days in the USA due to aircraft unserviceability and the replacement aircraft hitting a lamp post. Several delays of 24 hours due to weather etc.

You don't need to allow for delays - our friends were delayed a week in Sharm in November, they checked with insurance and were told cover is automatically extended to provide same level of cover for the duration of the delay.

If you're unavoidably delayed beyond the period of insurance you are still covered.

Same thing happened to me when we were away when that Icelandic volcano erupted at Easter 2010
