Life Insurance: at 70.

Hello all, we have a query regarding getting Life Insurance at 70.

Next month the L&G plan that wife and I have paid into for many years, ends and we get a nice payout. Wife will be 70 in May and I will be 71, both have various medical conditions, both receiving DLA for mobility (high rate) and for Personal Care (low rate). We are financially comfortable, and rent a Sheltered Home. We don't want to have to pay out large sums just to provide funeral expenses, but we do want to leave as little hassle as possible for our ds and dd. We have looked at some of the Funeral Plans and don't like them: wife wants cremation, I want a simple burial, neither of us is Christian or at all religious in the accepted, organised religion sense. We have an Earth Belief that is difficult to explain here.

Does anyone have any advice? All help is appreciated.

What don't you like about the funeral plans you have seen?

Generally, for someone concerned over covering the cost of a funeral a funeral plan is the best option due to it guaranteeing to cover the funeral directors costs and having an inflation linked payout for the disbursement costs.

A funeral plan can be for a cremation or a burial.. You select which you want.

Similarly, you can leave instructions as to what type of funeral service you want. It does not need to be a religious ceremony. In fact you do not need to have any service. Your funeral director will advise.
