  • Good Morning,

I've read these 'Small DFW' threads on and off for a couple of years and thought today I would write…partly as motivation to actually do it!

    - All meals from home
    - Make some more granola (all ingredients are about the kitchen, maybe not the right ones but plenty to improvise with)
    - refill snack bags for when at work with fruit, seeds and nuts (and mini marshmallows)
    - Send off pantomime tickets to personnel to get ticket subsidy through work
    - Phone tax people to get put on correct tax code…18 months I have been in current job and only just realised I've been on emergency tax code
    - Complete shift at work without buying a coffee
    - Finish work and do not purchase anything on way out (work in supermarket..final reductions will be done as I leave at 8pm)
    - Check if payout available on Topcashback
    - Check FPL
    - See if sister has paid back from Christmas
    - List things on either Facebook or eBay. Undecided.
    - Make sourdough starter

But for now, shower, cup of tea and I'm tempted to try and make crumpets...
  • Morning Everyone,

Another late start for me:eek: its lovely and chilly outside. Much more seasonal.

Todays' list in no particular order:
    Go for a walk.
    A spot of ironing.
    Check online banking.
    My daily bit of housework.
Complete online surveys (I have not done any for four days).
Get even more excited about job interview at 08:30 tomorrow morning. :D
NSD again hopefully. To be honest I have lost count how many we've managed to achieve, or not achieve :o

Another update from yesterday; spoke with Virigin Media (they called me) as I had cancelled our monthly TV subscription. As I have been with them for a number of years they have managed to give me a half price discount frozen for 12 months. So monthly cost would be £25 per month. I am awaiting the OH's approval for this.
OH received email from SC confirming his new DMP was in place (I advised him to move to SC from MoneyPlus). All creditors spoken too by SC and all parties much happier. SC confirmed debt free for OH before 2020! :j:T quite impressive considering the size of his debt  yes I am still annoyed with him. :D

Have a lovely day people. Keep smiling.
    Pace.
    Money scares me.

    Honesty update will arrive shortly......:o

    Morning all!

Firstly I'd just like to thank all you guys. I don't usually take the time to post individual messages to you all, but you are all amazing!

A friend popped round last night so I wasn't as productive as I'd hoped!

So on to today, I have/will:-

Wow DNMS, you are a new sock knitter & you're at the heel already! The only general advice I can give, really, is to say don't overthink it. That's where I went wrong the first time. Just follow the instructions, however counter-intuitive they may feel at first, & if you're doing it right, you'll start to see a little heel-shaped bit forming. And when you do, I promise you will feel very chuffed with yourself!

This is my first time posting and I have been reading a lot lately. I am embarking on a DMP in a couple of months after burying my head in the sand for far too long. I am trying to build an emergency fund first. So each day I try to make a list of things to do and focus on.

Today is a pretty dull day:

Take DS to school - done
    Home for breakfast - done
    Wash bedding - on now
Spend some time with DD and other DS
    Lunch from stores for DD
    Take DD nursery
School run and dinner from stores.... Not quite sure what to do as have very fussy children and cupboards nearly empty  Probably a tin of soup for me
Baths for all and try to get the kids in bed and asleep by 8pm (fat chance with DD)
Surveys when I get a chance!

    Thanks for reading!

Ally - Well done on the Australia fund. If only our car fund would grow so quickly, but once Jan & Feb are out of the way (several one-off annual expenses to pay at the start of the year), we are really planning to step it up big time.
You will soon be booking the flights at this rate. Bet your partner is polishing her camera ready for action!

    Good Morning Chilly People,
Snow forecast today, but so far, just more of the same general grey sogginess. A lot colder though. Yes, even I have turned up the radiator this morning :-O Not a very exciting list of money saving from me today, but here it is, for what it's worth:
*Checked banking for outstanding payment. Still no sign of it. Bah!
*Rounded down account to PAD £1-64 across to Car Fund.
*Received 2 survey vouchers - total of £15. Updated signature. Can't see me earning as many vouchers as last year as one of the online brand forums I was on had just finished, but will tot up my survey income again out of interest.
*Usual little energy-saving bits i.e only boiling the amount of water needed in kettle, turning off iron for final garment, etc.
*Dinner is the extra veggie cottage pie I cooked & froze last week. Intend to use up some veg with it.
*Did next week's meal plans. Remaining grocery budget for this month is low, so have concentrated on stretching a chicken to 4 meals & using ingredients/stuff in freezer we already have for the remaining 3.
*Chatted with mr f about a cheap but nice weekend. Think we will plan a wintery picturesque lakeside walk & take a picnic with us.
*Make tomorrow's packed lunch & work snacks.
*No downstairs heating on as am working upstairs this morning, so am disinclined to pay to heat an empty room. Will put it on later to warm it up for the evening. Will light my improvised clay flower-pot room warmer this afternoon to boost temperatures up in Foxgloves HQ.
*Progress big task from my Annoying Things List. It will save me £10 a month when it's finished, all being well.
Well, the wind's getting up & it's gone even greyer outside, if that's possible, so I'm thinking the snow may not be too far off. mr f will probably tip me off once it gets to him - he works 26 miles further north in the county, so he's my Weather Early Warning System.
Cheers all, stay warm & keep your hands on your pence,

  • Hi all :) hope you're all well!

Was updating this on my break in work and my phone ran out lol

Just finished my shift and today will be not so productive or DFW.
I'll pick up DD this afternoon from the childminders
Will see if Barclays have got back to me regarding a zero percent balance transfer (hopefully)
Bank pennies to pay towards overdraft
Draft up a budget for this month coming as I get paid for tomorrow and have a lot of new DDs coming out due to the new house etc

    Take Care :)
