What was your first ever job interview?
Comments

I must be odd, because I treat job interviews as a way to decide if I want to work for that company or not.0

Apart from the jobs I had whilst I was at school where I went in and asked if any jobs were available (one of which turned into my full time job on leaving school), my first proper interview was in 1987.
It was for data entry/accounts and I had spotted it on the job centre notice board whilst strolling outside. I had none of the qualifications or experience required but decided to chance it...it worked out well, a 10 minute interview and the job was mine.We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0 -
First interview was for working in a department store in my home town, I just remember it would have involved food. Wasn't keen on the job and it must have showed, cause I didn't get it. That was when I was 16, a few months later I got a job in Home Bargains - my brother had gone back to uni and I was looking for a Saturday job... had an interview, got it! Was there for 2 years until I went to uni!
I've had countless interviews in my career, so I don't really get that nervous anymore, but I don't think I prep enough for some of them!0 -
Saturday job when I was 16 - I'd gone with my mum to the tip drop off a boot full of cuttings, and we'd then gone into town, since i wanted to check out the latest releases in the record shop. On the way there I'd noticed a wanted ad in the window, so I thought I'd pop in and get an application form. Please note I was wearing grubby gardening clothes at this point, and was shedding the odd pine needle as I went along.
"I'd like an application form for the job please"
"Well, come this way and fill it in."
(goes into office fills, fills out form)
"We'll need your bank details and NI number, we'll see you 9.30 next saturday"
Half hour later....
"Did you find any records you liked?"
"No, but I did find a job....."0 -

My first job in a petrol station was like that.
I wonder if it still works like that in some places?0 -
My first one? Probably 10 years ago now. I was 16 and it was at a computer shop. I lasted 8 months. He got rid of me about 2 or 3 days before I was 17, funny that0

Mine was when I was 18, back in 2004.
Needed a summer job during break from university. I went to the first factory, asked to see the person in charge of recruitment.
Had an Interview straight away, got the job straight away for immediate start on the same afternoon. Had to bus back home and cycle like crazy back to work.
....it was a horrible and tedious experience which dragged, but I persevered for three summers.0 -
I went for this interview and was really sick of getting rejected all the time.
So i thought at this interview,
If im good enough, they will give me the job
so i went there in black tracksuit bottoms, black t shirt,
didn't have a cv and acted real confident...
and i got the job.
I was amazed and really chuffed:)
btw .It was a cnc operator:)“Life isn't about finding yourself. Life is about creating yourself.”
