And before anyone starts saying I shouldn't let the credit mount up, the majority of that amount came from the £140 Warm Home Discount payment credited to my account earlier in the year.
Hi poppasmurf
That's right, at the annual review, we refund any credit balance over a fiver directly to your bank. As Hengus says, with Monthly Direct Debits, we aim to achieve as near as possible to a zero balance by the time of the annual review.
Have I mentioned the 'Direct Debit Manager' to you before? This is an online tool to help you keep an eye on the arrangement. You can also change the payments should circumstances change. Provided the account is billed up to the latest meter readings, payments can be changed by up to 20 per cent up or down. By up to 5 per cent up or down without readings. Before confirming the new amount, we'll let you know by how much we anticipate the account will be in credit/debit by the annual review if payments are changed but usage doesn't alter as expected.
Glad you received the Warm Home Discount. Did you know, you can register for the 2016/17 scheme now? Although the full details won't be known until a bit later in the year, we're taking applications under the 'Broader Group' now. You can do this through our website or by phoning us. We'll be in touch by June 2016 with the details. No need to worry if you qualify under the 'Core Group.' Customers in this group automatically receive the payment and will be sent a letter by the Department of Work and Pensions to let them know.
As you qualified for Warm Home Discount, you might be eligible for help under the Energy Company Obligation too. This is a Government led scheme to provide help with energy saving stuff like loft and cavity wall insulation. Again, there's more information on our website.
Sorry if I'm repeating myself poppasmurf but hope you find this of interest.
