Traveling to Newquay

Hi looking for some ideas on getting to newquay going by coach would be lowest price but 10 hours on a coach is pushing it, the train would be quicker but more expensive, have heard of sleeper trains or mail trains also would spilt ticket be possible? craving in Aug.

Using a railcard and splitting I recently got Derby to Newquay return for just over £60 return.
Book 12 weeks in advance for best fares.
Through train Derby to Plymouth (some run through to Penzance) and change at Par (around 10 mins for connection)
