Unwanted treats!
Comments
-
I thought I was in control. I thought I'd taught my dog not to eat anything unless I gave him permission. He certainly doesn't scavenge or steal anything at home. I can leave any food out in front of him and he wouldn't dream of touching it.
I might not even have become aware he was being given treats initially had he not developed an allergy. Who knows what's in those horrible commercial packets you can buy. Full of chemicals and sh!te. He only ever gets dried liver/lung/trachea/chicken feet etc. as treats from us.
To find other people can intervene in my training and turn my extremely well behaved dog into one that then ignores me by offering tasty treats full of sugar, chemicals and who knows what else is extremely annoying to say the least.
It's my responsibility to keep him safe, as you say, and part of that is to ensure he doesn't see people as a potential food source otherwise he might approach the wrong person and end up being killed thanks to the new laws.
He's not a cutie lapdog type, he's a potential killer, hence why his breed are used in security/police etc. It's my responsibility to ensure he is under my full control whenever in public so I don't welcome people trying to jeopardise my authority.0
