Hi
I don't know if this is the right forum but I am looking for a reputable provider of online A level courses, with recognised qualifications, for a friend of mine. Can anyone help please?
Thanks
Jackie

What are the A levels for? There are qualifications at the same level as A level which are usually more transferable.
Is there a reason they can't attend evening classes at their local college (where A levels are usually done)?0 -
Hi
She would like to take English Language and History. She has an anxiety problem so wants to study at home. I have found a website called ICS Learn that seems to be quite good and they have arrangements for their students to take their exams at a local school as an external student, so she might go with that.

That explains the distance learning question but doesn't answer why she wants to do them - that was a very relevant question.0 -
Hi
She didn't stay on at school because of health issues and wants to complete her studies so that, in the future, if she is able, she has the opportunity to go to University.Treat everyday as your last one on earth! and one day you will be right.0 -

Had she thought of starting straight away with the OU - that's all done by distance learning and no A levels required for entry.

Wish her all the best but she cant do a college course due to anxiety but wants to go to Uni?
IMO advise her to work on her anxiety with CBT and Exposure Therapy, till that is sorted out, she will be trapped and wont get anywhere.0 -
I will mention that to her. It's what I did and I really enjoyed it. Thanks.Treat everyday as your last one on earth! and one day you will be right.0

Very bold considering we don't know anything about her or her anxiety. IMO.0 -
You can do a levels a year late I think and still get funding so it may be in a year she can attend college.
Has she got a social worker or youth worker? They should be there to help her access education given her age so perhaps they can advise.
Another thing is to contact the college and ask them for help. She may be able to attend small classes or perhaps sign up as a normal full time student but get ha douts/ lecture notes ( obviously it depends on the course here). You may be able to find out what sylabus the local college follow for that subject say OCR, get hold of the sylabus from OCR say, purchase textbooks online , then sit the exam at the local college as an external student ( ask the college if they do this).
If possible it might be worth trying to work with the local college ( see what doctors/ social worker/ camhs/ counsellor say) as it may be worse for her to do studying at home and become more isolated and it may be better if she can attend college ( even on a part time / supported learning basis). Obviously I'm not an expert so be guided by the experts.
I wish you and your family well. Anxiety can be so debilitating
