Hi all,
Little advice please, finally fitting some laminate to a 20ftx12ft living room. Which can get quite chilly. Im now changing carpet to Laminate. So i understand it may be cooler / noisier.
Enter the importance of underlay.
Could anyone advise a decent underlay to use? Would i be correct in thinking a thicker underlay (6mm ?) would be best for heat/noise insulation ?
Thanks in advance.

I'm glad I'm not the only person that can never say "underlay" once.
Underlay will make negligible difference to the performance of the floor. You have to fit proper insulation for that. Assume it's a solid floor? Read section 3.3: http://www.greensuffolk.org/assets/Greenest-County/SGBN/Sustainable-Construction/refurbfinalpdf.pdf but also remember the floor is just one aspect of the room's heat loss.0 -
you will want a fairly solid underlay for laminate, as the carpet type is too bouncy..

Thanks for the replies all.
Thanks for the link... I'm not going to lie.. Ma he document went way over my by head. It looks like I'll be turning the heat up and getting a rug!!
Thanks for the link also to the boards. I'll grab the board type rather the springy carpet then from b q. Guess it's not going to make a great difference.
Thank you0
