Debts disappeared off Noddle and Experian reports

My husband has 2 old debts, one with Moorcroft one with Wescot - up until December they were showing on his noddle report, adding a new default each month. Then they disappeared, so I ordered a £2 statutory report from Experian and they aren't on there either.
Last time I did an Experian report (18 months ago) they were on there, we haven't moved since then, and they were there every month on Noddle.
We're currently paying £15pm to Moorcroft and £2 pm to Wescot.
If the account isn't on the credit file, can we stop paying for now? Yes yes there's a moral obligation to pay your debt, but ultimately we want the debt cleared so that his credit is good enough to get on the mortgage with me.... if the accounts aren't being reported then I'm thinking we don't need to bother paying? (for now that is, unless circumstances change of course). I'd much rather divert that £17 and add it on to the payment he's making to pay back a HB OP.

Did the debts default 6 years ago? That would explain why they are no longer on your credit file.
As for not paying them, they are atill outstanding and creditor could take you to court and get a cjj which would make debt reappear on file so i would say its not worth the risk in my opinion.DMP Number 437

Hi,
They would of just been recording the default status of the account on a monthly basis, they were not new defaults.
Two reasons why they may of vanished :
(1) 6 years has passed since the original default, and they have fallen off his file.
(2) if you have disputed the debt, on occasions the CRA will hide the accounts status, until the complaint is resolved.
Either way the debt still exists and non payment could trigger legal action.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards. thanks for the prompt replies
Neither has been disputed recently, we know he definitely owes the money. One of them, the original default is over 6 years, but it has been for a little while. The other still has just over a year to hit that point. Seems strange they should both disappear at the same time!
I'll keep payments as they are for now then, and seeing as he's now showing as no recent defaults maybe we'll look at a low limit score-building credit card0 -
try Barclaycard, they have a soft search and I got a mainstream one despite defaults showing0

Sometimes creditors just stop reporting on them.
I had an account that vanished in similar circumstances from my file, still don't know why, there was no reason for them not to report on it, they just stopped doing so.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards.
