Car park investment

The advert I seen, you bought a 250 year lease on the car park, what happens in in 5 years they shut the air port?
You have a (worthless) piece of land.
If I can buy a bit of land, call it a car park and sell it off at £20,000 for a 2m by 5m space, would I even care about trying to get anyone to park on it? Even a small office car park would be worth a million. Ring any alarm bells yet?
There was parking advertised for sale at Glasgow airport. Look at it on Google maps and there's not a single car in the car park.
If the same people who sold storage pods are now selling parking spaces then that alone would ring alarm bells to meRemember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.0 -
I actually got partially hooked by the same scam - parking at Glasgow Airport - I ordered the .pdf brochure and everything, mostly because I was hypnotised by the words "8%" and "guaranteed" in the same sentence and wanted to get to the bottom of it.
I didn't invest, though, chiefly because I'm poor and don't have £20,000 to throw at a car park. A fool and his money are only parted if the fool has money. Touche, scammers!: )0 -
Rather than looking for unfeasible returns why not just invest in a balanced portfolio of worldwide tracker funds and bonds?
Mainly due to the fact that I'm not an investor, and now need to be!:o
I just googled "best worldwide tracker fund" and obviously got more information than I could digest in a lifetime.
Would greatly appreciate any direction to maybe some reliable products/lists/guides etc.
Some of the ones I looked at have a min. investment of GBP100000 and GBP1000000
I need to start with around GBP50000 and add 50 or 60K per year thereafter.
Thanks for your ideas.0 -

The quoted fund minimum investments only apply if you buy directly from the fund manager. Most fund managers arent interested in the hassle of dealing with lots of small investors. Go to an online broker and you can buy in as small quantities as you could reasonably want.0 -

The Vanguard LS series of funds are generally suggested as a good option as they have a worldwide mix of investments in shares and bonds, the proportions depending on the fund you pick. So LS60 will be 60% shares, 40% bonds.
If you have a look at www.monevator.com you should find some more ideas to look atRemember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.0
