So we have been offered the chance to stay with friends in Spain for a week at the end of Feb. but there are NO flights from Murcia till 29th March! We can go but not come back!

Could you not get a connecting flight in, say, Madrid? Or fly direct from the UK to/from Valencia and hire a car at the airport to get to Murcia.Now free from the incompetence of vodafail0

Not sure where you are seeing 'no flights'
On the official Ryanair website I can see Murcia-Stansted operates every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday until the 16th March at which times is becomes a daily service
Are you trying to pick a day in February when the flights don't operate (Tuesday, Thursday or Saturday)?0 -
Well we are trying to keep costs down, other flights with two changes came in at over £1,000 each!!!!!!! Ryanair was about £150 for both of us. May have to use Easyjet from Gatwick but takeoff is 6 am ish so living in North Lincs. we won't get any sleep.
We looked at going 22nd Feb and returning 29thFeb but there are no return flights from 22nd Feb till 26th March on any days!0 -

On their website they fly to Birmingham, Bournemouth, East Midlands, Glasgow (Prestwick), Leeds Bradford, Luton, Stansted and Manchester.
They are also not the only ones who fly to Murcia.
Have you tried skyscanner? Ryanair and EasyJet have a flight on 29th.0 -
