Advice re bank accounts please

We are pensioners and we bank with the RBS. I really want out of there but husband is fussing over switching. He is worried the pensions won't go into the new bank and the money gets lost. Can I ask if anybody has switched or changed banks - how long did it take for the pensions to go into the new acc ?

Another thought- even if you have paperless online accounts you can run them in the main via the telephone banking line. I frequently phone Halifax (my main a/c) Lloyds, TSB and HSBC to check payments, move money etc and it is just so easy.

As far as possible everything is paid by DD, otherwise by contactless debit card or CC so I really don't need that much cash as such.
If you really need cash then cashback in store with your groceries can be handy or a cash machine- they seem to have proliferated lately- and most are free to use.

Being polite and pleasant doesn't cost anything!
