France / Spain Camping holidays

Options
Hi, I am just after some advice really about camping holidays in France or Spain.

For the past few years we have gone on all inclusive holidays which are great but I really fancy a change this year.

Does anyone have any advise on good places, which websites to use, etc.

We would want to be able to fly to the location, with the accommodation already setup - probably not a tent though - some sort or caravan or chalet.

Thanks.:)

Start having a browse of some websites http://www.yellohvillage.co.uk http://www.pyla-camping.com/?lang=6 to get an idea of what's available.

Where in the UK are you?

Thanks Richard, I'll take a look at that website.

Ive been with Eurocamp before who had mobile caravans, depending on when you want to go it might be expensive obviously.

    Cheaper alternatives.

Just a thought but take into account if you need to take say bed linen with you, would mean less for you to take if you didnt need to take it.

Have a look at ryanair flights from LBA, LPL and MAN to smaller airports in France and then use google maps to find the campsites and then google to find the campsite websites and go from there.

If you are familiar with hotel comforts on AI holidays, perhaps look at the premium mobile homes.

  • One thing to bear in mind is if you are flying to France and don't intend to hire a car when you are there you will in all probability have to rely on the shop on site to buy your food, although French campsite shops tend to be better than shops on English campsites you may find it difficult to get to the closest big supermarket.
If you go down to the woods today you better not go alone.

My grandchildren love Cypsela at Pals, Spain.

It's about an hour from Girona airport by car. Eurocamp and other operators offer caravans there.

We've found it to be a top quality site

I think you will find that flying in near your campsite makes the campsite noisy, busy and expensive. I tend to hire a car and go further away from the airport. In France we flew to La Rochelle, hired a car from a supermarket and drove to

  • We're going to a place about an hour south of La Rochelle with the French company, Siblu, staying in a static caravan. We've been away with them once before and while we could suggest things they could improve a little, we got great and friendly service on the phone and on site, the caravan was fantastic, the site amenities were pretty good and well, we obviously liked it as we booked again.

They will, of course, try to sell you a caravan, or next year's holiday (usually with BIG discounts for booking that far in advance) but they back off with a smile if you politely tell them no.

The only downside I see from your point of view is how to do it without a car. We drove and I can't see how we would have done it if we hadn't. Had we flown, we would have hired a car. Very often in Spain, camp sites are near or in between reasonably sized towns or typical resorts so there are bus connections, taxis, etc. France is far more rural so those transport links are not so common... its one of the reasons we like France so much, though.

    Best of luck finding something,

Agree with the above, we looked at Siblu as friends were fans but the dates we wanted were not available.
However as already stated hiring a car is well worth while.

It's not a cheap holiday though. High season accom
    can be £1k+ per week.
