Hello,
I already have Windows XP on my laptop, thinking of doing a dual boot with Ubuntu, but i dont have my XP disks.
I need to clean install, the laptop isnt working too well, cant even download anything so there goes bittorrent.
I dont know what OEM means either, whether i have it or not or whether i need it. I know my serial number, but dont know if its OEM serial number or not. I think i running Professional.
Ive looked on Ebay, and dont want to pay £50 plus for CD's that i already have paid for!
Thanks, Ryan

If you have XP then the serial will be on the sticker on the bottom.
You should be able to just borrow somebody elses disc to install it....... you need XP home or XP Pro....... what ever is on your laptop now.

Hi ryansace
If you intend to dual-boot XP with Ubuntu then it's best to get XP sorted first (imo).
Do you really think that it needs a clean install?
Is it not possible to do a System Restore to an earlier date? That would probably be an easier option.Never interrupt your enemy when he is making a mistake.0 -
If you have the Product Key/COA aka the sticker you just need to get a XP disc on ebay they are about £20 for a Dell branded one, or get one off your friend or ["download a CD BUT doing so may give you more problems"]0

I say use kubuntu and run windows xp in virtual box, and have it full screen so you can switch through 2 desktops one kubuntu and the other windows.
i think all the xp cd's are around £500 -
It needs a clean install, nothing functions right, it runs so so slow, ive tried millions of removal and cleaning things, but it still goes so slow.0
