rejecting new car for excessive delivery lead time

They know exactly when the car will be built, contact the UK head office of brand. They don't just randomly build cars to a spec and hope they match the orders.0

Agreed. Clearly something is going on here because to not have an estimated date of delivery (not just saying the next month) is absurd.
I would perhaps go to the dealership, remain calm and collected and query whether this is normal for the car/model/options you have selected. If not, ask that they find out what is happening whilst you accept a free tea/coffee and read a magazine.
Why should you do the chasing and calling people to find out what is going on?0 -
And every time there's been a delay so far, you've accepted it?The back of the New Vehicle Order says if circumstances beyond their control cause a delay (more than 28 days) they will contact me to arrange an alternative date or I can cancel the contract.
Next delay, tell them you want to cancel, as you are entitled to do. Job jobbed.0 -

Some manufacturers do, when my wife bought a new Peugeot 307cc the dealer looked on a dealer only web site and announced that there was one sitting on the docks at Calais in the engine/ trim and colour combination she wanted. He ordered it from Peugeot and it was delivered a few days later.0 -
This reminds me of a time I was in Appleyards in Leeds looking at buying a Mini Metro. I told the salesman the exact spec and colour I wanted, and after a few minutes was told that there *just happened* to be a model of precisely the spec I wanted in their Manchester branch - promised to another customer, but if I signed on the dotted line TODAY ...Some manufacturers do, when my wife bought a new Peugeot 307cc the dealer looked on a dealer only web site and announced that there was one sitting on the docks at Calais in the engine/ trim and colour combination she wanted. I'm not saying that is what happened to your wife, but I'm afraid I remain cynical about things like this.If someone is nice to you but rude to the waiter, they are not a nice person.0 -
From memory she sat with the sales guy and looked at the options/ trim/colour combination then decided what she wanted, which wasn't an obvious combination.
the sales guy did say if there wasn't one available in manufacturers 'stock' then it would have to be built to order which could take weeks to be available.
The dealer wasn't part of a big conglomerate, with multiple branches selling the same marque so I don't think they would order a car for dealer stock of such an unusual vehicle.0 -
What make of vehicle is it?"You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0
