Pounds and Pence

Options
I am combining two challenges I have seen:

1) Pounds to week challenge - £1 in week one, £2 in week two and so on until £52 in week 52

2) Pennies to day challenge- 1p on day 1, 2p on day 2 and so on until 366p on day 366.

Saving the pounds to weeks gives £1378-£1431 (depending on whether you count as 52 week year or 53 week year, then pennies challenge gives £671.93 in a leap year.

Total saving in a year over £2000.
Paid off the last of my unsecured debts in 2016. Then saved up and bought a property. Current aim is to pay off my mortgage as early as possible. Currently over paying every month. Mortgage due to be paid off in 2036 hoping to get it paid off much earlier. Set up my own bespoke spreadsheet to manage my money.

I use to save all my pennies in a tin when i was little, but as soon as i heard the ice cream man in the street, the money all came out.

Good luck! I'm doing the penny challenge - started backwards, but had bills this month, so my sheet is a bit haphazard - printed out the chart and crossed one out a day, got £54.07 in it already - i'm really amazed!

Penny challenge here too. Doing it randomly by emptying out my purse at the end of the week, splitting it up into 7 amounts and then scoring them off a sheet. Total amount so far is in my sig as doing it as sealed pot challenge.

Mix it up a bit, I printed off the penny day chart, and started from the bottom (wrote £3.66 on it as its a leap year), and as I got to the end of the month, marked off some low value ones - balance it all out throughout the year (plus i'm paying ahead)

  • Hi, can I join please?

I'm the the £1 week 1, £2 week 2 etc. I'm doing it randomly though. for example, week 1 I put £2 in, week 2 £20. I made my box that I'm saving in as tried to buy another tin but 3 shops were sold out so thought I'd make my own. I've wrote on the box weeks 1-52 and tick the one that I've put in. weeks that I have more spare money, I will be doing the higher weeks and when I'm short on money can do the lower weeks.

    Hi everyone!

I started the pennies challenge in January, but have decided to do it slightly differently in that I will start from 1 penny again at the beginning of each month. Far more achievable for me personally and I've worked out that if I save each month to 30th November, that by 1st December (so I can use the money for Christmas) I will have saved £52.71!

That's ideal for me as that will certainly by some aspect of Christmas - some presents, some food some drink - whatever is required on 1st December!

£4.96 saved for January, so starting again today for February!

Good Luck everyone, in whatever challenges you take part in!
