Applying to the Family Fund.

I am thinking about applying to The Family Fund to get some furniture.

Does the furniture have to be for my son (like bedroom furniture) or can it be general furniture (for the lounge)?

Has anyone applied and have any feedback, either positive or negative?

It has to be for your son.
Plus there a lot stricter nowadays about who they will help.

    Thanks Emmsie.

I will apply for his bedroom furniture then. A desk, wardrobe and chest of drawers.

Hiya when we applied we asked for and we're given a double bed for my son and a tumble dryer. If you have a reason why the furniture in the loving room will help your child you can ask for it. For example, my ds wets his bed and clothes several times a day so the tumble dryer has helped me keep on top of the constant washing! For things like a sofa, you can apply but must be able to give a good reason how it will help your child. Hope that helps x

No, the living room furniture wont benefit my son, so i'll just apply for his bedroom furniture :)

What kind of things do you need? I get though a lot of mattresses etc so I tend to have a good idea where to get the cheapest bedroom items from.

These are not essential items, but have you tried Freecycle/Freegle or local Ebay deals where no bids are made because the item has to be sold locally to avoid delivery costs?

Yes i have looked on these places, but i cannot collect. Even if i offer a few extra £'s for them to deliver, the answer is no.
