Hi guys
We are off to Tenerife at the beginning of March. We are thinking of booking a hotel we have seen in the North of the Island. How are the temps there in March? We know someone who have just come back from the South, and said it was scorching last week. Does the weather differ between North and South?

Yes the temps do differ between the north and south, the north is far greener than the south and can be 4 or 5 degrees cooler than the south. Just because one or two weeks anywhere on the island have high temps it {like anywhere else} does not mean that it will be the same each week. Daytime in March temps SHOULD be high teens poss low 20's but as I say nothing is set in stone. Also do take onboard that you will arrive in the south of the island and not counting drop offs the transfer is around 90 mins. The beach is black volcanic sand and most of the main attractions on the island are in the south so you would add up to 2 hours each way for those type of enjoyments.
I do know all of this as we have been staying in the north for nearly 18 years 2 orr 3 times a year.0 -
Yes there is a difference, Mount Teide causes the north of the island to be cooler and at times cloudy. However, don't let that put you off, Puerto de la Cruz is a far nicer place than the ghastly monstrosities that have been built in the south and although there aren't the beaches you find in the south, there is a wonderful Lido along the sea front if you feel the need. The temperature may be cooler but you will still get a tan, expect low to mid 20's in March, as hot as I would ever want it but each to their own0

Thanks guys
yeah, we are flying to the South. Some Airlines do have the option going to North of the Island. But we seen a very cheap deal to South, so just went for it. Its a bit cheaper for hotels there. Would just get a private taxi. £100 return. That is a lot less than the price difference in hotel prices in the South. Still not 100% decided though.....

Be careful with some of the private taxi transfer companies as there are plenty of stories of transfer TO the resort no problem but no show for the return trip causing not only loss of the money but also the panic getting to the airport on your return. I would check to see if you can find any reviews with the one you are booked with just for peace of mind.0

Good tip, thanks. That was a quote on Resort Hoppa. Used them a few times to book shuttles, but never private taxi0

Also if you are planning to visit other parts of the island using public transport get a Bono via card as it ill save you up to 45% on travel. They are a pre pay card either 12 or 25 Euros can be bought from bus stations and many shops and you only need one for your whole group {not one each} even if there is no enough left on the card for the journey you can pay the balance in cash but still get the discount. All the buses have air con and IMO are a better service than in the UK
I you can do try to visit Loro Parque {it is worth it just for the penguins with real snow}0
