Account Which open the fastest

Hi,
I bank with Barclays and there process of setting up new accounts means I have to visit a branch everything! What a faff! So I was looking for who has the best accounts that open the fastest? I'm only looking to use them as short time accounts to use as accounts for others switching bonus.
Thanks
James

There's no 'one size fits all' answer to that - just because you were asked to visit a branch to open a Barclays account doesn't necessarily mean everyone else would, and likewise, accounts that others have opened completely online with other banks may require you to go to a branch too. If banks made their ID checking criteria too public then they'd be too easy to circumvent....0

I applied for a TSB account not to long ago online, with in 5 mins then emailed me my sort code and account number.
I put money in a few hours later.0 -
Another vote for the TSB account... mine opened within minutes.0

halifax
lloyds
tsb
nationwide
and even barclays
all opened accounts instantly for me, but then I guess it depends if they can verify you electronically, if you're asked to take id to a branch there's a reason for it.0 -
When I opened my nationwide account, they emailed me my sort code and part of my account number, I had to wait for the letters to come to get my full account number.
I opened my lloyds account in branch0 -
TSB were very quick for me.
Nationwide probably the slowest I have ever encountered when it comes to opening a credit card. After three weeks I have finally received my credit card and PIN. But still not been sent my passcode allowing me internet access to my account.0 -
Clydesdale & presumably Yorkshire provide acc number & on line access straight away.Ethical moneysaver0
