My main question is from advice on here I need to bank where my debt isn't so was going to try switch to first direct (using the £150 for switching to put towards debt)

It's an excellent account if you can get it.

Others to consider are TSB Classic Plus and Halifax Reward, maybe HSBC.

NATIONWIDE FLEXDIRECT can also be useful and there's £75 cashback on offer through Quidco
  • I was going to say that First Direct are part of the HSBC group and as you have a debt with them you should not go with First Direct however I have just reread your first post and seen it's in your mum's name. If you do go with Stepchange on a DMP you are only allowed a basic account. We went with Nationwide and have never had a problem with them.

I used to work weekends behind a bar and because I don't drink and it had fantastic regulars it was like being paid to go on a night out.

who would you recommend to try instead?

Try Nationwide. I think at the moment they have a referal offer where you can get £100 or you could also get cashback from quidco/TCB. I don't think they are that picky. I have been using them for a while and I think they are a lot better than some other banks I use.

Thanks Chelsea Blue, I was hoping to get a money for switching to put towards debt. Are all of these hard to get?

On a side note don't suppose you post on Chelsea Chat under the same user?

No that's not me, although I do support Chelsea (even though their not that great at the moment!)
