Any idea if a HSBC basic account allows the facility to create a banker's draft? I hope to call into my branch this week, but if I know beforehand it will save a journey.

If you pay their fee for a bankers draft and you have the cleared funds in your account there should be no problem.
However before paying the fee can you pay by faster payment? ...even a postal order might be cheaper for small amounts.0 -
Yes you can. There is a fee, non-refundable. Funds would have to be cleared I guess (and if relying on a cheque paid in recently, maybe for longer than usual). Faster payments if under £10k would be cheaper and faster.
P.s. I think HSBC only issue sterling drafts now. If you want a currency cheque the answer is no0
