break in in my car, loosing my no claims bonus?

So overnight some muppet decided to break into my car and steal my car stereo.
Well, they stole half of it (even more annoying) it has two parts, one is the unit itself, the second part is a connection box, without which the unit is useless as far as I know.
Anyway, it is, or was about five years ago, a very expensive (£2000 or something) piece of kit, and as such I even have additional insurance to cover it.
Called in to get it fixed (with Admiral) and they told me that if I make the claim, I loose my no claims bonus.
And while this is an old and rather !!!!!! car (been meaning to upgrade it), I now then stand in the position where I either make a claim paying the excess which might be a hundred pounds or so, or loose a no claims bonus that is probably worth a few grand.
Somehow it does also seem wrong that I loose my no claims bonus for someone breaking into my car, so was wondering if that really is the case?
Almost feeling like adding the loss of the no claims bonus to the insurance claim to see what they say:) After all, it is a negative effect caused by the breakin, which I am insured for...

If you make a fault claim like this (fault meaning your insurer cannot get reimbursed off anyone else) then your NCD is impacted.
If you don't want to lose it after a claim then pay to protect it.0 -

The one exception is where your insurers recover all their costs from at third party, so don't end up paying out of their own pockets - for example when your car is damaged in an accident caused by another driver who is identified and insured himself. In theory this means that you would have your no claims bonus restored if the thief is caught, ordered to pay for the damage and actually comes up with the money - but don't hold your breath waiting for that to happen.Almost feeling like adding the loss of the no claims bonus to the insurance claim to see what they say:)After all, it is a negative effect caused by the breakin, which I am insured for...0 -
NCB is a, no cost to us bonus. If you cost an insurer money they will recoup their losses indirectly through increased premiums.0

Sorry to hear of your misfortune but unfortunately the no claims discount will be affected. Maybe weigh up if it is worth claiming compared to purchasing the part that has been stolen.0

They may have just wanted the facia plate, If its the LCD or screen then its not unknown for someone to steal the facia because theirs is faulty.
If its not a standard fitment item then it maybe someone who knows you. Stereo theft is not a big thing these days.
I would remove the rest of it.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0
