G24 Appeal - IPC or BPA?

Hi
New to this!

I have received a PCN by post from G24.
The letter (which arrived late although the date on the letter implies it was sent in time) only mentions IPC and appeals via IAS - there is no mention of BPA or POPLA.
However, their website still shows logos for both IPC and BPA and I can see POPLA appeals for G24 discussed on this site, but I am not sure if the situation has changed.

So my question is, can I send my first letter as if they are a member of BPA and ask for a POPLA code? or do I have to approach it with the IPC template (which I'm not sure I have the nerve to carry through!).

Thanks to everyone for all the information on here and for any help you can give.

Parking companies can be members of both trade associations, but only use one for alternative dispute resolution.

G24 jumped ship and are now IPC members so you should sent the IPC template questionnaire that you will find in the sticky thread for NEWBIES.

But rather futile pursuing this line unless G24 are using the auspices PoFA 2012 in writing to you. I don't believe they are.

  • I have received a letter off G24 as a 'Final Notice' with no other notices previous. I then got bombarded by letters from DRP Dept Recovery Plus? I am obviously worried and curious as Iv heard that these parking tickets are scams? Do I need to pay this?

    Advice appreciated,
    Thanks

  • Hi again.

Thanks for the replies. I was also trying the 'complain to the retailer approach' and it appears this may have been successful. I went in person last week - I actually went into the store to see if the parking times have been changed recently, as I was so convinced I had longer to park than it turns out I had. It seems not, I must have simply misread the signs in my pre-Christmas rush.
It was only because of everything that I had read on here that encouraged me to make the point that it was a disproportionately punitive charge, that they would be losing at least one customer if it went ahead and that I felt they ought to be able to get it cancelled. Thankfully, the person I spoke to agreed. I called again yesterday to chase it, after which the retailer called back and said it had been cancelled. I asked for an email to confirm that act but he said I didn't need anything, it was cancelled and I would hear no more (he sounds much less scared of G24 than I am).

I have checked on the G24 payyourcharge and the appealyourcharge websites; it now says the PCN doesn't exist (whereas previously it eagerly presented a screen to allow me to pay their enormous charge). This makes me feel a whole lot better, although I would really have liked something in writing.

I emailed the store thanking them for getting the charge cancelled; I have also screen printed the G24 message that the parking charge notice doesn't exist. This is the only paper trail I have.

Is it OK to leave it at that? iI have read so much on here about the 6 years companies have to take you to court! Should I leave it now, or would you suggest I send something in writing to G24 to confirm that I understand it has been cancelled? or maybe wait to see if I receive confirmation from them that it is cancelled? or any other suggestion?

Many thanks again for all the information and support on here, without which I would very definitely be £60 out of pocket by now.

The first thing I'd do is to take a screen dump of the G24 website showing the PCN doesn't exist, and keep that safe. Anyone receiving a PCN should have a paper file in which to retain any documentation with a 'Destroy On xx/xx/xxxx' (date 6 years after) - keep everything you've got/get in it.

I'd give G24 a couple of weeks to confirm cancellation, after that I'd email them and ask them for a quick confirmation by reply (easier for them than typing out a letter). If you get a response (or further letters) saying the charge still stands, your case should be fresh in the memory of the retailer's staff member who confirmed the cancellation verbally to you - then it's hot-tail back to him/her!

Well done in your tenacity in following this through to a retailer complaint. Hopefully all is now resolved, but do come back if not.

    well done

I can never understand why people dont use this "complain to the retailer/landowner" approach more often when these things happen, especially when its retail parks or shops or supermarkets, even more so when they have shopped there and given those places their business, even more so if they have receipts proving patronage

again , well done, it was always yours best solution
  • And - happy days - I just received a letter from G24 confirming the charge has been waived.
Am so pleased (have been checking payyourcharge every day just in case it came back!).
The more I have looked at this forum, the more I realise just how much time and effort some of you put in to help others - very much appreciated, thanks.
I will now add a post to the successful complaints forum, and be more vigilant in my parking!!!
