Dublin Airport - BA Flights - Car Hire Return

Hey guys, crazy question, checking my options etc...

I have a flight booked from DUBLIN to GATWICK on a Sunday morning. The flight leaves at 7am......
I also have baggage (connecting flight onwards)
I will be doing online check-in the day before or earliest allowed....


So as it is a International flight, normal rules are to get to the airport 2 hours before flight.....
But in my case, I should be doing "Bag-Drop only", as I will already be checked-in Online ??
So in theory, if I got to the airport 90 mins before flight, it might be OK ?

Reason for asking is, if I hire a car with Alamo/Enterprise, the rental place opens at 5am, which is 2 hours before flight time...
If I dropped the car off at 5am, allowed for 5 mins to check the car over, then catch the shuttle bus to the airport, that could take up around 30 mins.....

Any input guys ?

This is BA to which you are referring, not a one flight a day wonder. Sixty minutes would also be ok if you are already checked in online...though you'd then need to go straight to an open desk. So ninety minutes will be fine. Just don't panic
If there is a glitch, you can drive to the airport first, do the bag drop and then drop the car off. Then back to the airport and straight to the gate.

Actually, that sounds better! I could leave the wife in the car, do Bag drop, then drop car off and get back to airport... Not gonna have breakfast until we land in Gatwick anyway...
