Bad christmas meal

What figure would you say is acceptable?
I would start from the other end, what was the meal worth? If it was worth £40 fair enough but if I didn't get the starters I ordered, had to send back the main course and got it back still not satisfactory from the description I wouldn't think it was worth £40. Maybe you would and if so £25 is a fair refund for you. Maybe the OP will think it was worth £40, they are in the best place to judge, if so the refund is fine. I grew up in the pub trade and it would have been expect ed that you got a full refund but we weren't part of a chain. I think the least I would expect is the £25 plus vouchers for a free meal for everyone.
The food didn't cost anymore than a normal roast meal and the staff were probably lucky to get double time so quite a mark up for the pub.Sell £1500

Just bear in mind that it is insanely unlikely that a pub chain is charging £65 for FOOD..... Have a look at Harverster's menu below:

£40 for food... seems about right for a pub xmas day menu.
£25 for drinks.... not too unbelievable
I heard no complaints about the drinks, so you can discount this from the bill cost... Effectively you are being offered the goodwill for the food only, and £25 off a £40 bill is very fair (especially when you ended up eating it! That act in itself means that you aren't entitled to the full refund.)0 -
I agree ^^^
I took my mum into a Little Chef, the only cafe for miles before Heston took them over. It was packed. We ordered fish and chips, waited half an hour and wondered why everyone had grumpy faces. When our meal arrived everything on the plate was stone cold. We were offered half price which I took. I never set foot in one of those places again.“Learn from the mistakes of others. That menu doesn't match up with what the OP has said so must be another chain.Sell £1500
