Young working couple first baby

Hi all,

New to these forums - I suspect this has already been answered so apologies for reposting.

I am working guy 23yrs old, work in a office only earning £16,060 a year , my partner is a full time student just finished her 3rd year but with our baby due anytime now! she has had to put 4th year on hold.

My question is - would we be entitled to any sort of benefits? I'm completely new to benefits having never claimed any in my life!

Let me know if you'd like me to provide more information! - I tried using the benefit calculator on here but sadly doesn't work as my partner is a student.

No thats weekly. Make sure the child benefit is in her name as they credit you towards your pension.

So who are the working couple ?
Does your girlfriend also have some kind of part time job that might trigger maternity benefits ?

You don't make clear if you and your girlfriend live togther or have any disabilities.

    Housing benefit maybe.

Assuming you live together, you work at least 30hrs per week and there are no disabilities in the household, this would be the correct weekly amounts.

Housing benefit would depend on if you rent or mortgage. It only applies to rent.

You may be able to get a sure start maternity grant - https://www.gov.uk/sure-start-maternity-grant/eligibility
