removing debts from files after 6 years?

Not the most succinct title, but I would like to ask other users for their experiences in this. In the past I was in a trust deed, started in 2008 and ended after 3 years. I joined Experian and started rebuilding my credit rating with good results. However I joined clearscore (dazzled by the word free). They use Equifax and ion that report I have a significantly lower rating. On looking into it one loan from my trust deed is still showing. I have contacted Equifax and the answer from them is that it stays on file from closure. I am 100 % certain that this is not the case. Experian helped me to have all my old debts removed from file yet it seems Equifax are unwilling. Has anyone else had this issue? I would love to know the outcomes.
I am currently writing back and forth with equif. Perhaps they would be more on my side if I were to pay them a monthly fee? (cynical moi)?
Any info is good, ta

I presume you are in scotland?
You say the trust deed ended in 2011. On that basis I think the record on your credit file will drop off in 2017, 6 years after completion but I trust someone with some knowledge of how things work in Scotland will be along to either confirm this or put me right.

6 years from the date the account was settled, written off or defaulted - whichever happened first.
Equifax's own words, that agree with ICO definitions.
A loan in a TD must be recorded as a default with the date of that default being no later than the start date of the TD, meaning such a loan should have gone.
Presumably that default date is not being recorded correctly, or at all, which is why it has not been removed.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB
