Homebase double glazed windows - who fits them?

Hi

Looking at having all windows and doors replaced and was quite impressed with the Homebase windows.

Any idea who they use to fit them?

Has anyone had windows fitted by Homebase?

I had a quote from Everest and it came to £22,000!

Homebase are not known for keen prices. Neither would anyone in the building trade entertain dealing with them - Wickes for convenience but prices are high, and B&q a definite because of Tradepoint. This means Homebase target retail consumers with high prices.

I would not entertain buying replacement windows from Homebase. I also doubt Homebase staff have any technical knowledge of window specification, construction, ironmongery or even the Buildings Regulations.

Equally I doubt Homebase have competent fitters to install the windows - they are probably using sub contractors driven down to the lowest price like some of the national double glazing companies.
  • I would suggest using a local fitting company that buys its windows (or extrusions, and makes its own windows) from a recognised company (and is preferably approved by that company) such as Rehau.

It's difficult to know the best way to go, but I'll keep looking.
