Have you got a will?

Right, now I've worked out how to add a poll, vote away please.
It's one of those things that I keep meaning to do but never seem to find the time. There are loads of reasons why we should all have a Will but I'd like to see how many of us do and don't before we frighten those of us who don't.
Would make for a good campaign Martin

NoDo you know what would happen to your estate if you died without a Will?
Or what would happen if you and your spouse died at the same time and neither of you had a Will?
The answers may surprise you.

YesYou can pick one up from WH Smiths or somewhere like that for about £10, if you don't have anything complicated to sort out. That's what I have"Mrs. Pench, you've won the car contest, would you like a triumph spitfire or 3000 in cash?" He smiled.
Mrs. Pench took the money. "What will you do with it all? Not that it's any of my business," he giggled.

NoI know this sounds really really stupid, but dying is one of those things I think "will never happen to me", hahaha and I get really worried thinking about it, so dont!.
Does anyone know how much it would cost to get one sorted via a solicitor?0 -
NoWhat if you have no spouse and no dependents?
I have no will, and have no idea what would happen to my assets (and liabilities!) should I die.Errors of opinion may be tolerated where reason is left free to combat it. - Jefferson0 -
YesI have a UK will and a Spanish will (as I have assets in both countries). My Spanish will has an English translation and I also have certified copies of both wills for my executors. My husband has the same. All drawn up for us by a professional bilingual will writer for the sum of 250 euros. I feel it is money well spent.
Those of you with small children - how do you know your children will go to the person of your choice if you die? Much better to officially appoint a guardian in a will!(AKA HRH_MUngo)

NoThe will I made out years ago is no longer valid since my divorce.
My situation with my children, new partner, new partners child, is so complex that I don't even want think about detailing a will!
Had a close call last year and even with time on my hands in hospital I couldn't bring myself to do it..... too many variables.0 -

Something is better than nothing otherwise your ex-wife may be able to use the old will to get the goodies.
I seem to recall one of the reasons I made out a will was that I was going abroad (kinda) & apparently if you die overseas it gets even more complicated!"Mrs. Pench, you've won the car contest, would you like a triumph spitfire or 3000 in cash?" He smiled.
Mrs. Pench took the money. "What will you do with it all? Not that it's any of my business," he giggled.

This is scary and prompted my poll.
If you and your wife die together, the oldest person is deemed to have died first.
Good news if you are the younger person because your relatives will get the larger share of the pot of gold.
See Example 2 on this site (clicky).
