replacing cones/cables on garage door

Hi, I'm in the process of replacing the cones/cables, and roller spindles on my henderson garage door. There are obviously some guides on the internet in relation to how to do this but come a bit unstuck at this point.

In relation to the cones, I need to take the main spring brackets off to give me enough clearance due to the brickwork. I've taken the tension off the main spring using a hook supplied with the parts, which attaches itself to one of the brackets.

Is it safe just to continue to unscrew the brackets one at a time, with just this in place?

I've attached a couple of pictures to show what I mean. Here's the hook keeping the tension off so I can replace the cones/cables/spindles:

Here's the other side- both sides obviously have lack of sufficient clearance
