what is this ? Its T&C talks about costs added to my Sky bill (but doesnt say what costs £). It talks about the Cloud. (I already have an icon for the Cloud.
It seems to show local WiFi hotspots (eg Wetherspoons), but I already have access to those at nil cost.
I have a Nexus 7 tablet.
Is Sky WiFi giving me internet access wherever I go, as if i was on a smartphone and paying a monthly contract?
thanks

No only when you are within range of a sky hotspot.
Wifi is free if you have Sky broadband so not sure what costs you are talking about seeing.I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole
MSE Florida wedding .....no problem0 -
Its all the outdoor sky wifi networks
You can connect to these as part of your package for free0 -
Thanks. Sorry, maybe I'm being a bit dim here.
I am with Sky, yes.
The Cloud thing (free Wifi), works at a range of places in my town, but if I was on VM or BT, it wouldn't ??
Or if I was on a Virgin train, would I need to be on VM as my Sky subscription would not connect me ???
What I am saying/Qing, is.... isn't free Wifi just that... free from wherever their box/router is, to my tablet, regardless of who I am with. Supposing I had NO broadband subscription, sat in Wetherspoons.... would I get a connection then ?0 -
I am with BT so wherever there is a BT Wi-Fi hot spot I can connect my phone or tablet BUT I have to log in using my BT log-in details and password. The same would go for you, if you are with Sky and you have a log-in and password you could use Sky Wi-Fi hotspots. If you did not have a Sky log-in and were sitting in Wetherspoons you would see the Wi-Fi but would not be able to connect to it.0

OK, thanks. So it seems W'spoons use Sky Wifi (because I can get it/free, and I have Sky b/band at home/an account.
You have BT/no Sky - you can't go into Spoons and use your phone/tablet free - true ?0 -

no....untrue. Are you sure it's a Sky wifi app, or a.n. other app which just finds the free hotspots for you?
Any place advertising free wifi will have just that, irrespective of your isp at home - you may just have to provide an e-mail address on a sign-in page in order for you to access the net.......Gettin' There, Wherever There is......
I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple0 -
mmmm still 'unclear' (to me).
When I first got the tablet, I sat in Spoons and 'fiddled'. It 'found' the Cloud and it shwed all the wifi hotspots in the town. NO mention of Sky.
I then came across the Ski Wifi app (which wanted my sky sign in details), and it seems to be the same thing....
Are these hotspots powered by any/all providers ? Is Spoons just Sky ?. If I was on BT I would still, get free wifi/the cloud at W'spoons ?
Not being pedantic. Just curious0 -
The cloud is owned by Sky i believe , but you just need to register for the cloud to access it4.8kWp 12x400W Longhi 9.6 kWh battery Giv-hy 5.0 Inverter, WSW facing Essex . Aint no sunshine ☀️ Octopus gas fixed dec 24 @ 5.74 tracker again+ Octopus Intelligent Flux leccy0

If you register for the Cloud (Wi-Fi) you can pick it up wherever it is without having to enter e-mail address every time. You seem to be talking about the difference between straight forward Wi-Fi, which many establishments provide (free - just give your e-mail address so you will be bombarded with spam forever) and a Sky Wi-Fi App whatever that is.0

I think that's what they are referring to, it just needs your Sky login details, also the device gets registered with Sky, and shows in your account.
IIRC there is a limit on the number of devices that can be registered at any one time..................................Sky Wi-Fi App whatever that is.Move along, nothing to see.0
