How to remove egg shell paint from a carpet?

Enigma16

Myself and my uncle were decorating and doing some painting for my my aunt when my uncle happened to knock over the paint onto the carpet. We have been trying to get it out with wet cloths/rags while using white spirit, and although the paint has faded it is very noticeable.

My aunt and uncle have an estate agent coming next Wednesday because they're planning to sell their home, but if the carpet is like this it won't look good so they will likely cancel until everything looks spick and span. What other option is there to clean the carpet? Would the home insurance company cover something like spillage and damage to carpets?

Insurance should cover it if accidental contents cover is on the policy. I doubt you'll get it out entirely.
