android email problem on Samsung

Got a big problem.

All my outbox and drafts have disappeared. My inbox us ffine apart from it saying there's 2 unread messages but there aren't.

I'm with Hotmail and I think only my inbox is synced to laptop.

There's lots if important notes and figures I had in my drafts thar I can't lose.

I deleted my recycle bin this morning on my phone but nothing else.

What is the problem and any way I can retrieve drafts please?

what do you see when you access your hotmail account from a pc rather than your phone?
are all your folders intact on the pc / laptop?

I checked Hotmail desktop via phone. The inbox and sent items are there and in sync.

There are drafts til august 2015 but nothing after. I've lost dozens of notes that I saved as drafts.

I can only think I deleted the drafts instead of clearing my recycle bin or junk mail. ..but I'm 99% sure I didn't. They were there yesterday. And it doesn't explain the 2 unread emails in my inbox which are not there.

    It is strange .

Any way I can retrieve these? Like do the equivalent of going back to a set day like I would on a laptop (if I did delete them).or is it a virus?

I found the 2 unread messages jn my inbox. But they were from months ago and I remembered I had opened them previously despite showing as unread. Weird.

Any help on recovering my drafts and / or emails that were cleaned from recycled bin please?

its unlikely youll be able to recover recycled emails..

however, l did once use an android email app (other than the gmail app which l usually used, my tablet at the time had issues with running it) that came with the tablet..

now assuming you are using that similar app on android it might be worth checking for "other folders", you see when l viewed via my tablet any emails l sent or drafts would go in non-standard folders that program created in my gmail which was connected at the time were created folders than went something along the lines of [imap/sent], [imap/drafts] and [imap/trash], anything that was done on the tablet went into those folders (it took me a while to work out as l have allot of labels lol).

basically put it might be worth checking to see if there were new folders created your not seeing.

The horse has already bolted of course, but for future reference: if you need to keep notes use a proper note taking app!

Evernote Trello are the obvious ones that spring to mind.

I can't imagine how anyone could think that saving important info by putting them in draft emails would be a good idea.

Go to the 'Deleted' folder in your Hotmail account (not the Android app), scroll to the bottom of the page and click on 'recover deleted messages'. It may not be able to bring back everything that you have deleted, but hopefully it might recover some of the important stuff for you. Good luck.

That's the thing . I really don't think I deleted it. And the fact that two read inbox emails showed as unread, means that something peculiar has happened?

I tried downloading some recover apps but they weren't specific to my issue.

    Any other apps out there?

I'm sure I can recall some of what I saved but it's just a bloody pain. Maybe it's a virus?

OK thanks I'll check if I can 'recover deleted '(but don't I need to be fully synced? Why's just my inbox synced? (

Is outlook the same as Hotmail?

Anyway the interface appears differently when I check Hotmail on a Web browser. ..ie it's outlook (can't remember if it said that befure ) and the layout is like an app....ie can't see it on desktop or classic view.

Wasn't like this yesterday. I wonder if that has something to do with it?
